Director Alejandro Oliveros joins us from San Antonio, Texas, where he directed the PK-12 choral program at The Atonement Catholic Academy and the choirs at Our Lady of the Atonement Catholic Church. He brings a variety of directing experience, having served as a festival clinician for the American Federation of Pueri Cantores, where he conducted John Stainer's "The Crucifixion" with a mass choir and organ. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Choral Conducting at ECU, in addition to serving as the Director of Music and Organist at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greenville. He has sung professionally with the San Antonio Chamber Choir and has performed abroad with the San Antonio Mastersingers. Most recently, he performed with the ECU Chamber Singers while they earned third prize at the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany. Alejandro holds a BM in Music Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He lives in Greenville with his wife Maggie, and their two dogs, Bartok and Oslo.
Accompanist Sarah Summers Weeks is a collaborative pianist, soprano, arranger, and graduate of East Carolina University with degrees in Collaborative Piano and Vocal Pedagogy under the direction of Dr. Catherine Garner and Prof. Nicole Franklin. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Wingate University under the direction of Drs. David Brooks and Annie Stankovic. Mrs. Weeks started her collaboration journey at the age of 11. Sarah is a current member of the American Choral Directors Association and Sigma Alpha Iota. Throughout her tenure at Wingate, she traveled with the music department to Austria and the Czech Republic in 2016 and to South Africa in 2019. In 2022, she won the Promising Young Collaborative Pianist Award at the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano. In Spring of 2024, she accepted a position as Collaborative Pianist for the Greenville Choral Society in Greenville, NC and traveled with them to Carnegie in May 2024. Sarah and her husband, Matt, began a new journey with their performance and education business, aMUSe, established in July 2024. She and Matt are excited to return to the area to make music with the Pitt County music community and the surrounding area!
